I draw. Not great. But I do it.
I’ve tried journaling before. I’ve thrown away plenty of half filled journals stuffed with angst ridden adolescent writing.
During my senior year of high school, I bought a small journal with a soft, brown leather cover. In the first few pages, I made some sketches and noted that I wanted to learn to draw.
That was the last time I sat down to draw anything except organic compounds and Lewis structures.
Five years later, after picking up Danny Gregory’s Creative License, I bought a sketch book and began drawing. I’ve been drawing since October 2007 and I love it.
I still don’t think I draw enough, but I’m working on that.
When I decided to start drawing, my intention was to change the way I look at the world. It worked. I try to let myself see everything now. I walk around and I’m more observant. I feel more connected to something after I draw it, like I really took the time to get to know it.
And maybe I love it more too, because I’ve finally invested myself into it.
I should draw everything.
