On Failure

Tango Feet

Judo and tango are hard things to do. Learning technique and gaining skill in either judo or tango isn’t easy. Try something new and you will not get it right the first time. Or the fifth. Maybe by the sixth or seventh time, you’ll have the idea down. But you forgot to do this or that and you need to put some soul and expression into it. And how about the timing? Or the music? Or during sparring or on a crowded dance floor?

The Goat’s Balls

Next to go on this spread of prosciutto, goat cheese, rosemary, and thyme is a dab of wildflower honey and a crack of fresh black pepper. The whole thing gets loosely wrapped up and toasted in the oven until the prosciutto is crispy and the goat cheese is warmed through.

Taking the leap

I put in notice last Friday at my job. After less than one year working as a technical writer, I’m out. And I’ll never work full-time for anyone else if I can help it. I’m working for myself from here on out.

Independence has been declared and is effective on April 25, 2008. The perks: 12 hour work days, no guarantee of financial stability, Fridays off, a comfy home office, being my own boss, choosing my own projects, and creating my own work culture.

Self-employment is a beautiful thing.
