Lorem Oopsum

I don’t follow sports at all, but I have been following Rhonda Rousey’s Olympic campaign for a bit. ESPN wrote up a short profile on her and a few other US Olympic hopefuls. Of course, I couldn’t help but notice this:


That’s right, looks like a little bit of our good ‘ole friend lorem ipsum escaped the designer, copywriter, and art director; and was signed off and launched. I didn’t dig around on the site since the navigation is clumsy and borders on impossible (yes, carousels are trendy–this one is fucking fast and clumsy) so I’m not sure if they were missed on other profiles. I discovered this slip, however, on July 14th and as of today, it’s still there.

Judo seems to be quite the neglected sport here in the US. ESPN’s web team doesn’t even care.

On Failure

Tango Feet

Judo and tango are hard things to do. Learning technique and gaining skill in either judo or tango isn’t easy. Try something new and you will not get it right the first time. Or the fifth. Maybe by the sixth or seventh time, you’ll have the idea down. But you forgot to do this or that and you need to put some soul and expression into it. And how about the timing? Or the music? Or during sparring or on a crowded dance floor?
